Tim, many thanks for keeping us in touch with your travels on your western swing. If nothing else, you travels point out the dismal state of passenger rail transportation in this country. James Howard Kunstler likes to say that our passenger rail system is worse than Bulgaria's. I think it is just another symptom of private wealth vs. public squalor that is endemic in our politics (economy).

A friend of mine attended the ASPO-USA conference in Houston last month. Looks like "peak oil exports" are going to be the trigger for political collapse and it is likely to happen in the next five years. So if you and Sally are thinking of bailing out of NC then I would do it sooner rather than later.

I was musing that if you could reach 1 percent of the youth and adults in this country with WAWTG then with a sufficient multiplier effect of say 4x you might expect to reach 12 million people. Selling WAWTG at $20/copy is going to take a long time to reach an audience that large. I'm hoping you can find an "angel" willing to underwrite the cost of distributing 3 million copies of WAWTG for free from you Website.

You screening tours have amply demonstrated that we are not alone in our feelings and thoughts about where we are headed. I am heartened to know that there are many outposts of sanity out there in the land of political (economic) madness. Thanks to you and Sally for sharing your story with us...we knew we weren't all crazy for all of these years.

For those not fully familiar with Peak Oil Exports, here's some explanation:

http://graphoilogy.blogspot.com/2007/07/net-oil-exports-and-iron-triangle.html

Scroll down to "Net Exports and the Iron Triangle"

Then there's this: http://netoilexports.blogspot.com/
which shows that we're already past the peak of available oil - exports to those who have it, imports to those who want (and think they need) it.

And finally this forecast, from GliderGuider, a poster at The Oil Drum who wrote a great review (who hasn't?) of WAWTG: http://www.theoildrum.com/node/3018#comment-243155

As someone posted at TOD today, looks like the previews are over and the feature film is about to start.

Thanks, Tim. We ARE looking to bail quickly. The export situation is huge. Whether an angel comes along or no, we've already connected enough mutants to make a difference, I think. There ARE islands of sanity out there, and we are NOT alone, which is what Steven Spielberg tried to tell us years ago!

Dan, thanks for the links on oil exports. The feature has been in an international run for some time. Just hitting theaters here in the US!
